Harrogate Brew Co Plum Porter

With the award winning plum porter from Harrogate Brew Co I had a couple of ideas in my mind that I loosely put down in pencil which involved a pure purple background, red shelves and a hammer, for a while I allow some time to mentally think how to build “the set” or positioning of everything, after a week or so a new idea popped into my head, as they do which got me all excited like a child and I immediately set out my plans…..

Off I went with the label from one of the plum porter bottles and had the colour matched to paint a mdf panel, this would become my background.

Next was to drink one of the bottles of plum porter (the night before) as I needed an empty bottle, I then cut the bottom off, this would be held in position but upside down.

Lighting was roughly set in place and then finessed to get the light just right, this actually takes much more time than you’d expect.

Next up was to prepare the bottle to “look” good and then beer was poured through the open bottom, a receptacle was underneath ready to catch the liquid, this process of pouring the beer through the bottle was done many many times, some not including the bottle cap just in case, it’s always better to take more photos than less

A little addition I was not sure would work was adding the plums, I visited several shops trying to find plums that actually looked good, I found some almost black, some a medium shade of red and then the ones I ended up using being a premium one and I think they add to it perfectly.

Then with the 200+ images it was just a case of going through them, selecting the ones I liked and making my edit.

Now onto the next.
