Dried Chilli Pepper

More of a personal project for me that I have been meaning to do for several months, wandering around a floristry wholesalers I saw this huge bag of dried chilli’s and was immediately drawn to them, I bought the bag and ideas began to fill my mind, however I thought for impact I wanted a simple flat lay with high contrasting colours.

My aim was to have a gradient of chilli’s, so heavy at the bottom and dispersing as the scene went up, as I emptied the bag I saw this singular curled up chilli so why not make it the centrepiece.

One single light as high up as I could put it to give a real hard light, I wanted real punch with this after all there’s nothing soft about chilli’s

In all I slowly built up the shot, moving the odd chilli to compliment and adding here taking from there to balance the photo.

I did some forward thinking with this image and my final shot was the yellow background on it’s own so no chilli’s at all, the idea was I could then edit out any chilli I wanted or even move them in the editing process and ultimately so if I wanted I can add some text, you can see an edit I have done with the text added over on my instagram, and it is the blog main photo.
